Safeguarding of children, young people, and vulnerable adults

At St Mary of Bethany we are passionate about keeping everyone in our community safe, therefore safer recruitment and safeguarding training is essential for all who work and volunteer with us.

If you believe a child or adult is, or may be, in danger of abuse please report this immediately to one of our Safeguarding Officers or clergy. If you have concerns about a non-emergency situation, please do still let us know, whether in person or via call / email. Even if you feel it is a minor matter please do still contact us!

Our aim is to always deal with any concerns diligently regarding children, young people, and vulnerable adults, taking steps to ensure the safety of the people involved by immediately following the House of Bishops’ guidance, including notifying the Diocesan Safeguarding Adviser (DSA) and statutory agencies immediately. St Mary of Bethany adopted the Church of England Promoting a Safer Church Policy Statement, House of Bishop’s Practice Guidance and supporting diocesan safeguarding protocols.
