The ethos of St. Mary of Bethany Church is derived directly from that of the Diocese of Guildford, to which we belong. It is summed up in the statement ‘To be a community that loves Jesus and serves others in His name.’
Behind this statement lies the motivation for all St. Mary of Bethany Church’s activities, working together to extend Jesus’ model of the Kingdom of God on earth by living out lifestyles expressing love, truth, justice, mercy and forgiveness.
We are inspired by the message, life and example of Jesus through which God’s unconditional love for all people is expressed.
The ethos of St Mary of Bethany Church, and therefore the basis of our relationships and activities, is shaped by faith in Jesus Christ and in his love.
Since our ethos is given life through our relationships: the way we work together and behave with one another and those we seek to serve, demonstrates and authenticates what we say we are.”
